Basalt takes its name from the volcanic rock with which it shares a similar appearance. Indeed, the material comes in a dark chromatic range, from cold greys to browns. Basalt, when shaped by hand, also acquires a cracked and fissured texture reminiscent of the rock. With wax as a binder, the material is both heat sensitive and hydrophobic. These qualities allow Basalt to be used in many contexts as a container or support. In addition, the wax binder allows the material to be easily recycled many times. Simply heat the material to be recycled and then reuse it.
